Solar is the cleanest source of renewable energy, and can greatly reduce your homes carbon footprint through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Amazingly, solar can also drastically reduce your electricity bill in two ways. Firstly, you will be using electricity that your solar system generates during the day within your own home. Secondly, your system will also feed any excess electricity that you do not use back into the grid. This means that you will be purchasing less electricity and will get a credit on your bill for whatever you do not use. These savings together with the increase in the value of your home make solar a logical solution for your home.

The inverter is the device that monitors and converts the DC electricity produced by the solar panels into the Australian standard 240V AC. The inverter will be installed as close to your switchboard as possible. The inverter not only monitors and converts the electricity but also provides immediate information such as the amount of power being produced.

All that is required to go solar, will be handled by your dedicated personal solar consultant who will manage everything from when you first make contact through to installation. Along the way we may require information from you, but you will have a single person administrating the entire process to ensure everything is done.

Solar is suitable for most roofs permitting it isn’t in poor condition. If unsure, please raise this with your dedicated personal solar consultant who will be able to advise you.

The two panels most commonly sold in Australia are mono-crystalline and poly-crystalline.
Mono-crystalline is manufactured from a single wafer silicon, whereas poly-crystalline is manufactured through the use of thousands of different wafers.  Nu Energy recommends Poly-crystalline as they suit Australian conditions. That is, they work better in warmer climates.

Generally solar panels will be covered with your household insurer permitted they were informed of the installation. Please check with your insurer.

Photovoltaic (PV) panels rely on sunlight and ultra violet rays, not heat. In winter you will not receive as many sunlight hours, although the panels do operate effectively at cooler ambient temperatures (25 degrees)

All of our systems are completely grid-interactive and no battery is required. All excess electricity that you generate, and is NOT being consumed within your household will be exported onto the grid and you will be given a credit on your power bill.

Installing solar system will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This therefore entitles you to generate environmental credits call Small-scale Technology Certificates or STCs for short. Like other commodities, the price of STCs isn’t fixed and will vary with supply and demand. One STC equals 1MWh of generation from a renewable source, this will vary depending on where you live. For example a solar system in Melbourne Victoria will generate 53 certificates, whereas in Brisbane Queensland, will generate 62 certificates. This is why you will see different prices for different regions across Australia.

These STCs are generated once your solar system has been installed and can then be sold. Under the Renewable Energy Target (RET); STCs are traded to electricity retailers. At Nu Energy, we will do all of this on your behalf and will simply discount your price at the point of sale.
