Two lucky Australian schools are the latest to benefit from the power of solar thanks to a generous donation by one of Australia’s leading solar solutions company, Nu Energy, in the recent Let’s Live Better campaign.

Lockwood South Primary School in Bendigo is the proud winner of a $40,000 Canteen Rescue makeover to transform their tired tuck-shop into an energy-efficient fresh food hub, including the $12,500 solar package from Nu Energy.

Frankston Primary School will also receive a solar energy package as a second place winner of one of the prizes.

The campaign was a joint venture between Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM), Children’s Food Education Foundation and Nu Energy that aimed to educate children on the benefits of living a healthy, active lifestyle.

“Nu Energy was honoured to be involved in a project that not only promoted the advantages of being healthy but also provided schools with renewable energy solutions to assist in educating on the importance of tomorrow,” said Simon Schauble, Nu Energy Chief Executive Officer. “It is important for children to develop healthy habits for the future and the Let’s Live Better campaign was a great opportunity to do that in a fun manner that brought the whole community together for a common goal,” Simon said.

The competition allowed schools to earn a point for every dollar spent at CFSGAM managed Shopping Centres around Australia throughout May and June, and double points when buying fresh food.

Lockwood South Primary School’s Principal, Sue Crothers, said she was ecstatic with the “amazing community effort from our parents, families, friends and the entire Lockwood South community”.

“We would also like to thank the broader Bendigo district for supporting our bid once it was known we were in the running for the national prize,” Ms Crothers said.

The Better Schools program is part of CFSGAM’s Let’s Live Better campaign that is investing in schools and families to build healthy and sustainable communities.
