Solar Electricity Scheme

From July 2009, the government will assist with the upfront cost of installing a roof top PV by offering solar credits for the purchase of renewable energies systems up to the first 1.5 kilowatts of capacity installed. (Solar Systems installed with a capacity above 1.5 kW will still be eligible for the standard 1:1 rate of RECs creation).

The number of additional credits will be based on the multiple as set out in the following table:

Feed in tariffs

A feed-in tariff (FITs) is a premium rate paid for electricity produced by a renewable source of energy.

The FITs is a currently a state run incentive, therefore it differs from state to state.
